I have had quite a conventional background, working my way
through education. Once I had my degree under my belt, then
the hard work began. Using the help of the Fellowship scheme,
The Princes Trust, Threshold, Business link and other various
bodies, I began to establish my business. Without the help
of so many people I would not have been able to achieve the
things I have today.

| Industry
Relationships |
There
is quite a substantial community of designer makers within the
jewellery quarter, and while we do not automatically work with
each other, we support each other and often get involved in
projects, and exhibitions together. I have a few suppliers within
the jewellery quarter, for components, however as I am not involved
with the gold and silver jewellery making industry, I do not
work directly with many of the companies within the jewellery
industry.

| Inspiration |
My
inspiration comes from all around me, absorbing everything in
life. Fixings and fastenings from every possible object, cars,
food packaging, nature etc. Images from all around us, modern
day icons, things I come into contact with on a daily basis.
At Newcastle, I was taught a very simple design technique of
drawing, abstracting, modelling and then back to drawing, it
is a very good basis to the designing any product.
